Polaris or Can-Am — which buggy to book

We run two brands and they're genuinely different machines, which is why the prices aren't the same.

Polaris is our standard buggy and the right choice for most riders. It's quick enough to be exciting, stable and forgiving if you get a line wrong, and it comes in 1-seater and 2-seater versions. If it's your first time in a buggy, this is what to take. From AED 450 for a 30-minute single-seater session, or AED 650 for the 2-seater.

Can-Am is the premium machine. More power, noticeably better suspension travel, and enough grunt to climb the steeper dunes that a standard buggy would bog down on. Riders who have done this before, or who came specifically for the driving, take the Can-Am. From AED 750 for 30 minutes, or AED 1,350 for a full hour.

Prices are per buggy, not per person — so two riders sharing a 2-seater pay less each than two singles.

What a buggy gives you that a quad doesn't

You sit inside a tubular roll cage with a full harness and a steering wheel rather than astride with handlebars. That means three things: you can take a passenger, you're far more stable at speed, and you can push harder with less risk of coming off. It also means buggies handle the bigger dunes better than a quad does. If you're riding solo and want the exposed, hands-on feel instead, look at quad biking.

Where the buggy zone is

Buggy sessions run from a dedicated riding area near Al Madam on the Dubai–Hatta Road (E44), roughly 45 minutes from central Dubai and a similar drive from Sharjah. This zone is separate from the main desert safari camp — about 20 minutes apart — so if you want to combine a buggy session with an evening safari, you'll need a private vehicle. Tell us in advance and we'll arrange the transfer.

You can drive yourself out and pay for the buggy alone, or add a private SUV transfer and be collected from your hotel or residence anywhere in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman.

Safety, age limits and who shouldn't ride

Every buggy carries roll bars, seat belts and safety harnesses, and each machine is inspected daily before it goes on the sand. You get a briefing, helmet and goggles, and a guide rides with the group. No licence is needed.

Drivers must be 18 or older for the high-powered Can-Am machines and 16 or older for Polaris; younger children can ride as passengers with an adult in a 2-seater. Buggies aren't suitable for pregnant guests or anyone with back, neck or heart conditions — the ride is deliberately rough. A camel safari or the dinner-only camp evening is the better option in that case.

Sessions run through the day, but late afternoon books out fastest — cooler sand and better light. In the UAE summer, take a morning slot. Message us on WhatsApp at +971 55 962 7008 with your preferred machine, session length and number of riders, and we'll confirm availability straight away.
