Planning your sightseeing days

If you have three or four days in the UAE, this is the order that works best.

Day one: the Dubai city tour. Do it early in your trip — it's an orientation as much as a tour, and after it you'll know where everything is. Half a day covers Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, the Dubai Frame, Jumeirah Mosque, Palm Jumeirah, the Marina and then Old Dubai: Al Fahidi, the abra crossing and the gold and spice souks.

Day two: the desert. An evening safari is the natural counterpoint to a day in the city.

Day three: Abu Dhabi. A full day — Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Corniche and Emirates Palace. Add Ferrari World or Warner Bros World on Yas Island if you're travelling with teenagers.

Burj Khalifa — worth booking separately?

The city tour includes Burj Khalifa views, not entry. If you want to go up, book the Burj Khalifa tour separately and take a sunset slot if you can — those sell out weeks ahead between November and March, so book before you fly.

Why private rather than shared

Our city tours run in private vehicles, so the itinerary bends to you. Want an hour in the souks and to skip the Frame? Tell the driver on the day. On a shared coach that isn't possible, and you spend a good part of the day waiting for other passengers.

Seasonal timing

From November to March the weather makes walking tours comfortable all day. Between May and September we shift the outdoor stops to early morning or late afternoon and keep the midday portion indoors — worth knowing when you're planning a summer visit.
