Quad biking in Dubai — what to expect

A quad bike is the easiest way into desert riding. You sit astride, the controls are twist-throttle and brake, and after a short briefing most first-timers are riding confidently inside the marked sandpit area within a couple of minutes. There's no licence requirement and no experience needed — staff stay with the group throughout and you ride at whatever pace you're comfortable with.

Our machines run from 80 BHP for standard rides up to 220 BHP for anyone who wants to be pushed. Raptor and Yamaha models are available, and the riding area is a dedicated sandpit zone rather than open dunes, which keeps it safe while still giving you real sand to work with.

Standalone ride or part of a safari?

Both work, and the right choice depends on your day. A standalone quad bike rental suits people who specifically want the riding and don't need the camp evening — you're in and out in a couple of hours. Adding a quad session to a safari is better value if you also want the dune bashing, camel ride and dinner: the evening safari with quad bike and the morning safari with quad bike both include a 30-minute session in the package price, which costs less than booking the ride separately.

Quad bike or dune buggy?

If you're riding alone and want the raw, exposed feel of the desert, take a quad. If you're riding with someone, want the extra stability of a seat and harness, or simply want more power, look at the dune buggies instead — Polaris and Can-Am machines seat one or two and handle the bigger dunes.

Where you ride and how to get there

The quad zone sits near Al Madam on the Dubai–Hatta Road (E44), about 45 minutes from central Dubai and roughly the same from Sharjah. Pickup can be arranged from Dubai Marina, JBR, Downtown, Business Bay, Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Barsha, Al Qusais, Mirdif and across Sharjah and Ajman, or you can drive yourself out and pay for the ride only.

Age limits and safety

Riders must be 16 or older to drive a quad alone; younger children can ride as passengers with an adult on a two-up machine. Helmets and goggles are provided and every bike is checked before it goes out. Quad biking isn't suitable for pregnant guests or anyone with back or neck problems — a camel safari or the dinner-only camp evening is the better fit. Wear closed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting sandy, and bring sunglasses or a buff for the dust.

Best time to ride

Late afternoon is the popular slot — cooler sand, better light for photographs, and you can roll straight into an evening safari afterwards. From May to September, book the morning session instead; midday sand in a UAE summer is genuinely uncomfortable and the ride is far better before 10 AM.
